Slam, Bam, and Crashing into the Holidays
Three things that rang in my holiday season
My lovely Medium writer friend, Jill Ebstein put out a little challenge in a not so recent post (I’m behind) asking what three things will start the holiday season.
My response was a broken tree, sparkles in the rain, and an upgrade to first class, which I promised myself I would write. But that isn’t quite the order — as lyrically pleasing though I find it, life is not always so lyrical.
Sparkles in the rain. Every year, sometime in November, the holiday twinkle lights start going up. There are a few schools of thought on this tradition: white lights only, solid color, multicolor. And, unless you have a Clark Griswold as a father (as I do), ne’er shall the schools collide.
